Important first step...
The construction of our rail link from our factory in Koblenz Germany to our main Distribution Centre, is an important first step in trying to achieve long term sustainability in our supply chain.
By switching from road transportation to rail, we have been able to take more than 2,500 trucks off the road. Quite a step towards our goal of cutting carbon emissions.
The Koblenz regional government are delighted by this initiative. They intend to use Kimberly-Clark as an example to local industry of how companies can invest to improve sustainability and at the same time become more cost efficient.
Because we believe in creating a sustainable supply chain, next year we will be looking to extend this project to our Moscow Distribution Centre.
