With so many eco-labels and environmental certification systems available today we know that it can be difficult to understand and navigate all of them.  KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* prefers certification systems both that represent our environmental values and that are valued by our customers.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests.  As an organisation Kimberly-Clark is passionate about responsible sourcing  and that is why you will see more and more of our paper based product displaying the FSC logo. LEED

KIMBERLY-CLARK PROFESSIONAL* provides a wide variety of product solutions that help buildings and facilities meet the requirements to earn LEED certification. An organization’s participation in the voluntary and technically rigorous LEED process demonstrates leadership, innovation, and environmental stewardship.

LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most:

  • Energy savings, water efficiency
  • CO2 emissions reduction
  • Improved indoor environmental quality
  • Stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts

Environmental Protection Agency

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established The Comprehensive Procurement Guideline (CPG) program as part of EPA's continuing effort to promote the use of materials recovered from solid waste. Buying recycled-content products ensures that the materials collected in recycling programs will be used again in the manufacture of new products. EPA is required to designate products that are or can be made with recovered materials, and to recommend practices for buying these products.

Green Seal

Founded in 1989, Green Seal provides science-based environmental certification standards that are credible, transparent, and essential in an increasingly educated and competitive marketplace. Our industry knowledge and standards help manufacturers, purchasers, and end users alike make responsible choices that positively impact business behavior and improve quality of life.

A 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, Green Seal issued its first environmental standards in 1991-2, and the first product certifications were completed in 1992. Hundreds of products and services from major companies such as 3M, Benjamin Moore, and Andersen Windows have now been certified to meet Green Seal standards, and the number of major product categories covered by standards has increased to more than 40.
