Product Lifecycle – Raw Materials

We are committed to responsible sourcing of raw materials and ensuring the sustainability of the fiber we use.

KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION has one of the most progressive fiber procurement policies in the tissue industry and was the first major tissue company to set the goal of purchasing 100% of the virgin fiber we use from suppliers that gain independent certification of their forest lands or their fiber procurement activities to one of five internationally recognized forest certification systems.

We do not own, manage or harvest any forest land and purchase most of our fiber from external suppliers, so we undertake formal audits of all of these suppliers to confirm conformance to our policy.

The truth is, trees can be a renewable resource. A well-managed forest will benefit wildlife and neighboring communities for generations. That’s why our goal is to source 100% of our wood fiber from certified suppliers.

Many of our best-selling KLEENEX® Brand and SCOTT® Brand towels are made via UCTAD, our patented towel-making process. As well as consuming up to 17% less fiber at source (compared to traditional processes), UCTAD creates absorbent towels that help you use less and waste less.

It’s this focus on reducing the consumption of resources at every stage of the product lifecycle that helps us offer you high-performing, environmental choices.

We recognize the following sustainable forestry certification systems:
