Product Lifecycle – Manufacturing

We invest in new technology and process improvements to reduce the use of resources and waste throughout manufacturing.

Product Lifecycle - Manufacturing

In 1995 KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION launched our global environmental VISION program that fosters sustainability in our products and processes.

It sets out ambitious goals for reducing energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions, manufacturing waste reduction and eliminating the use of landfill for manufacturing waste, reducing total fresh water use and maintaining treated wastewater quality.

VISION 2010 has helped KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION achieve significant improvements in key environmental areas, including:

  • 7% reduction in CO2 eq emissions per unit of production since 2005
  • 6% reduction in total energy use since 2005
  • 2.4 billion litre reduction in annual water use since 2005
  • Diverted 1.2 million tonnes of waste from landfill in 2008 alone

Under the Vision program, all of KIMBERLY-CLARK CORPORATION’s mills are required to implement  an ISO 14001-based Environmental, Health and Safety Management System.  This requires each site to establish policies, objectives and targets to manage their environmental impacts and risks.  Mills are audited routinely  to identify gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement.
